The purpose of this guide is to provide the information and explanations necessary to help you understand the required pool maintenance or "troubleshooting" procedures to keep your pool working as designed. This guide is intended for common problems with basic solutions. There are other reasons that could cause these symptoms. Every pool is different and will have unique problems. The purpose of this guide is to provide an initial check and troubleshooting to eliminate common causes found.
The filtration and sanitation systems are designed to keep your pool water clean and clear. A filter is a device designed for straining the impurities or suspended material from the water that flows through it. A sanitizer is a chemical compound added to the water that oxidizes or kills organic material and bacteria to provide a clean water environment. The water is pushed through the pipes to and from the pool by a water pump, which is driven by an electric motor. This is the simple explanation.
The following charts expand on some of the commonly used terms to identify parts, components, procedures, chemical symptoms, common problems and related solutions. Keep in mind that if you are attempting to diagnose a problem and are having difficulties call us for advice, we can help you collect information about the problem you are diagnosing.
