Project Zero: How Continental Pools Builds a Safety-First Culture

A drowning is 100% preventable. We believe that completely, and it’s the reason behind Project Zero — our commitment to zero preventable incidents at every pool we care for across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

What Project Zero Means to Us

It’s not a marketing phrase. It’s a promise we make to every family, board, and community we serve: proactive training, honest communication, and constant attention, because every pool should be a place people can trust without a second thought.

How We Actually Do It

Project Zero is the commitment; our Safety Coaching Program is how we live up to it every day. Every lifeguard we place gets real, ongoing coaching — not a one-time class and a certificate — in surveillance, rescue technique, and emergency response. Supervisors check in throughout the season, because staying sharp takes more than a class back in May.

Why We Take This So Seriously

Our lifeguards log a lot of hours over a season, at a lot of pools, watching a lot of kids who aren’t always being watched as closely as they should be at home. We know that if you have enough hours and enough pools, something will eventually happen unless you’ve built real structure to prevent it. That’s not a comfortable thing to say, but it’s honest, and it’s exactly why we don’t treat training as a one-and-done requirement.

What This Means for Your Community

When you work with Continental Pools, you’re getting more than a lifeguard with a card in their pocket. You’re getting someone who’s been coached, evaluated, and supported all season — the same standard we’ve held for more than 700 facilities across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

A Promise We Keep

We’d rather do the work up front than explain what went wrong afterward. That’s Project Zero, and it’s not something we say once a year — it’s how we run every pool, every day.
