We’re proud of our work
We recently modernized the filtration system at the Rollingwood pool in Catonsville, Maryland just west of Baltimore. Their previous system was poorly designed with an excessive amount of pipe and fittings from the pump discharge to the return. In addition, the majority of the air bleeders were obstructed by the unnecessary piping. This created the inability to relieve the air bleeders during pump start up. In order to use the air bleeders you would actually have to climb on top of the pipe and tanks. This design flaw was dangerous, by not allowing the safety features of the tank to be used as intended by the manufacturer and putting the pool operator in harms way by actually having to climb over pipe, fittings and tanks to use the system properly.
The redesign included the elimination of numerous unnecessary fittings to have a more efficient, less restrictive piping plan. The design improvements achieved an increase in flow rate of almost 100 gallons per minute with the same pump. This improvement changed the existing eight hour turnover rate to a much improved turnover rate of six hours. The other benefit of this increased flow rate is a much more thorough backwash cycle. This project was also enhanced with the use of Dr. Dryden Activate glass media and the Hayward HCF series filter tanks.
